What we do in this class:
Ballet is an essential core to all dance training and provides a great number of physical, mental and social benefits for students. Ballet engages the body from head to toe with each exercise at the barre working different muscles. The focus of these lessons is correct technical training for dancers to then apply to all dance styles.
At Dexterity we offer classes from as young as 3 years old to senior level and uniquely offer 2 teen beginners lessons for those students who may have missed the opportunity for starting classes much younger.
This class is essential if you wish to progress as a strong, technical performer, but also a great option for general strength building and posture alignment. Of course, like all dance styles ballet will contribute to a student’s well being too.
Do you offer examinations?
At Dexterity we do not offer examinations through external bodies. We do however have an annual technical demonstration on stage where the students show their technical strengths in a theatre environment.
The highlight of the year is each student also has the opportunity to bring their ballet to life in an annual summer showcase which is a high production value show, choreographed by leading dance professionals.
Every student wishing to go onto professional training at top ballet schools has indeed done so without exams in this discipline.
Boys only lessons
At Dexterity our RAGE boys have their own boys only Ballet lessons on Fridays. Working with our ballet master Donatien Ravet. This is a truly inspirational class for any budding ballet dancer.
